Commer has been in the financial services industry since 1987, first as Director of operations for a Registered Investment Advisor firm, and then as a financial advisor handling client accounts directly. He founded Essex Financial Group in 1994 to focus on clients' financial planning and estate planning requirements. Kent's credentials include the following securities registrations: Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 51 (Municpal Securities Supervisor), Series 63 (Uniform State Law), and Series 65 (Investment Advisor). Kent is also licensed with the State of Michigan as a Resident Agent for Life, Health, and Disability Insurance and as a Resident Solicitor for Property, Casuality, and Liability Insurance. He attended Wayne State University where he earned a B.A. in Speech Communication in 1980, and currently lives with his family in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan where is also has a municiple appointment to the Grosse Pointe Park Tax Increment Finance Authority.
